I'm from Boston, Mass. USA.
Living here we get to enjoy (or not) the 4 seasons.
I've always found that I tend to leak more in the cold weather, especially when I get cold.
So around this time of year I use double pads or a pad in my disposables.
In the warmer weather I don't use plastic pants as much because I know that the pads and disposables
will suffice until I need a change.
But in the colder weather I have to change more frequently because I leak more frequently.
A prime example is what happened today. I was doing computer research for about 4 hours straight.
I decided it was time to change my pad. 4 hours is usually the limit for changing.
I stood up and felt my bladder empty faster than normal. The pad was oversaturated along with a thinner disposable
I had on. The leak ran down my leg. I was angry at myself for sitting too long.
But I realized this happens every winter.
I changed into a new disposable and double pads. I also put plastic pants over them to protect the fresh pair of pants
I also had to put on.
I've made a long story longer but my question is.
Does anyone else have problems when the weather gets colder?
Thanks for listening.

I also have the same problem. Because I work full-time as a CNA in a resthome and have no blader control I have to wear diapers throughout the day. In the winter months I have been wearing a heavy disposable diaper (24/7 brand) with a booster pad by (Tranquility). With this combo I can go my whole shift (9hrs+) without "over-wetting' them!! In the summer the same diapers would last 12 hrs+ . May be I drink a little more coffee in the winter? Its in the morning that I have the most heavy wetting. Before I began to seek a full-time job I began wearing cloth diapers with plastic pants. These proved to me that I could work dispite having no bladder control. I began going to job interveiws and testing how long my protection would last before leaking. Now Im very confident wearing the diapers and booster pads togather as an everyday thing.

over wetting my diapers

I know I do drink more coffee in the winter. My night time blood pressure pill is also a diuretic so I wet a lot as soon as I get up in the morning. The first pad I put in my disposables will be good for about an hour before I have to change it. The subsequent pads usually last 2-3 hours each.
I also experiment with booster pads and plastic pants to see how long I can go before a change is needed.
Good luck and may 2013 be a drier one for us all.

Absolutely! I have Stress Incontinence and I can manage it most of the time with just watching what I drink and when I drink. But when we go skiing it's so very, very, hard. I basically have to dehydrate myself in the morning and afternoon and even so I usually try to bring extra garments so that I can change. I also have to go to the bathroom every 2 hours even so. I don't remember the exact scientific reason but I remember learning in the cold our bodies contract and in the summer they can swell. Which I guess that makes sense because they always tell you to put cold on hurt body parts to bring down swelling.

Absolutely yes. Since October (the onset of colder weather) I am passing water by the minutes - uncontrollably at times.

Those cold, bitter nights proved worse to me. Adult diapers are heaven-sent.
