There are many types: Fecal Incontinence, Urinary Incontinence: Stress Incontinence, Overflow Incontinence, Functional Incontinence, Mixed Incontinence, Bed-wetting etc.

When prostate cancer is found more than 80% opt for surgery, radiation or hormone therapy which can cause incontinence and impotence even though their cancer may not have been life threatening. This in an in-depth article from the Wall Street Journal:
